Overview of Sport

Tenpin Bowling Sport was introduced in Pakistan during 1980 growth in ten pin bowing game in Pakistan and first centre was established by private sector at Fun Land Karachi that is now obsolete and non functional. Later, one center was developed in Islamabad at Hotshot F-10 area. The center was with 10 Lanes and BRUNSWICKUSA equipment was installed in it.

The city of lights, Karachi, has the honour to house major number of Bowling Centers /Clubs and gradually the particular sport has grown up and now emerging as popular sport amongst the people of all ages and status. Following Bowling centers / clubs are operative currently in Karachi that is 80% of total centers held in the country:-

*    12 lanes in Area 51 Defense Housing Authority Phase-V.           2001

*    12 lanes in Royal Rodale Club in Karachi                                        2002.

*    08 lanes in Millennium Mall Gulshan –e- Iqbal Karachi               2005.

*    06 lanes in Dream World Resort Super Highway Karachi          2008.

*    10 lanes in Southend Cricket Club DHA Phase-V                         2008.

*    16 lanes in Arena KDA Scheme Karachi                                         2008

Ultimate objective of the STBA is to setup 4 – 6 Bowling Alleys of international standard along with a state of art bowling training center in Cumming years. 

The indoor sport has now become attractive and favourite for the people all over Sindh in particular and Pakistan in general and enjoyed by each age group especially the youth of the day, equally by Men and Women.

Events History

The rapid pace of bowling game attracted many players, mostly in Karachi, since 2001 to 2010 where most Bowling Centers were seen full during evenings and no space on weekends. Few centers are arranging events and Bowling Tournaments on a regular basis. It would be worth mentioning that Pakistan Bowling Teams has participated in International Tournaments and has earned medal and awards. Fortunately, the player that makes the record is from Karachi.

Bowling Association Events

In light of the fast trend decided to form an association called Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association during year 2003

The association designed its first Mega Event in year 2003 that was held at the Royal Rodale Club DHA, where over 200 athletes actively participated in all categories i.e.  Under-12, Under-18, Women, Men Single, Team & Intercity event. The event was a major success and made a glaring break through to develop the game in the city of Karachi in public sector. This later attracted a large number of people from all walks of life. The Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association continued its operations and successfully arranged number of Bowling Events include:

*    Pakistan Day Tournament (23rd March)               (2005 – 2009)

*    Azadi Cup Tournament      (14th August)             (2003 – 2009)

*    Defence Day Tournament  (6th September)       (2006 – 2009)

*    Ramzan Tournament                                               (2005 – 2009)

*    Quid e Azam Tournament (25th December)        (2005 – 2009)

Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA) duly supported by Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation. Calendar of Event has been chalked out for the year 2010 to continue for the preceding years on regular basis.

Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Association, a Registered Body with Pakistan Sports Board and Pakistan Olympic Committee) is geared up now and setting grounds to develop and promote the bowling game as a national sport. Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA) has joined hands with PTBF to look after the major venue of Bowling Sport, Karachi and enforce International Sports Rules and Federation Policies. The affiliation with Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation has already been extended by the Federation to Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA).
